How to upgrade Windows 11 Preview Edition from Windows 10

Since Microsoft released Windows 11 Preview Edition for the DEV (Windows Insider) channel, many users want to get tested. However, not all users have internal Windows access, there is no way to update Windows 11 Preview Edition. In this article, I will teach you how to upgrade Windows 11 Preview Edition from Windows 10 without Windows internal permission.

Windows 11 Preview Edition Update

  1. Just press the “Win” key on your keyboard to call up the Windows 10 start menu.
  2. type “regedit” to get the Windows 10 registry.
  3. go to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft WindowsSelfHost UI Selection”, change the data from “UIBranch” to “DEV”.
  4. save and exit the Windows 10 Registry.
  5. Restart your computer.
  6. Open Windows 10 settings, find update item and click “DEV”, then update.

If your PC can’t run Windows 11

  1. Just press the “Win” key on your keyboard to call up the Windows 10 start menu.
  2. type “regedit” to get the Windows 10 registry.
  3. locate to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM Setup”
  4. create a “LabConfig” and two “DWORD” keys in “LabConfig”: “BypassTPMCheck” key (00000001) and “BypassSecureBootCheck” key (00000001)
  5. save and exit Windows 10 registry
  6. now, you can upgrade to Windows 11 Preview Edition.
