Microsoft introduced the “News and Interests” feature in Windows 10, which displays weather information by hovering the mouse over the icon in the system tray. A similar feature is also available on Windows 11, but Microsoft names widgets that you can open by clicking the appropriate icon in the system tray. We can say Windows 11 Widgets is an updated version of News and Interests that doesn’t show the weather information in the system tray.
Most Windows 10 users don’t like Messages and Interests and have turned it off on their PC. However, some Windows 10 users may turn on the news and interests right away. But after upgrading to Windows 11, this feature is missing and they want to get it back.
Unfortunately, there isn’t an official way or registry tweak that allows you to see the weather information on the Windows 11 system tray. You need to click the widgets icon in the system tray to view the weather news. If you want to view or view the weather information on the Windows 11 system tray, you can, but you will need to get the help of a third-party tool.

Weather bar
Weather Bar is a free application designed to display weather information in the system tray area of the system tray. The weather bar allows you to see current conditions and 15 day forecasts, and has the ability to save an unlimited number of custom locations. Once you’ve downloaded and installed it, it will appear in the system tray. Click the icon in the system tray to display a flyout with more information about the weather. The program gets weather information from OpenWeatherMap.
If you right-click the icon in the system tray, you can set the location and access settings. To view the weather without clicking the icon, drag the icon from the system tray to the system tray.
Now you can take a look at the weather in the system tray without having to click the icon.

WeatherBug is another freeware application that does the job. It is available for download for both smartphone and Windows operating systems. Once you’ve downloaded and installed it, it’s on the system tray as well. Simply drag the icon from the Windows 11 system tray to the system tray to display weather information in the system tray.
