How To Make Google Chrome As Default Browser In Windows 11

It is a well known fact that Google Chrome is the king of web browsers. With over 70% market share, it is easily the most widely used web browser on computers.

Microsoft has been looking to regain market share with the Chromium-based Edge browser. As a result, Microsoft Edge is the default web browser in Windows 11, and uninstalling Edge from Windows 11 is not easy.

If you are a Chrome lover for whatever reason, you may want to set Chrome as the default browser once you upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Unfortunately, changing the default browser in Windows 11 is not an easy job.

When you try to set Chrome as the default from the Chrome browser, it does nothing more than open the Settings> Apps> Default apps page. So setting Chrome as the default or changing the web browser requires some effort in Windows 11.

This guide will tell you how to set Google Chrome as the default browser in Windows 11.

NOTE: We assume that you have already installed Chrome on your Windows 11 PC. Otherwise, please download and install the Google Chrome browser before following these steps.

For Chrome as the default browser, you must set Chrome as the default for .htm, .html, .pdf, .webp, HTTP, and HTTPS file types.

To change the default, click a file type, select Google Chrome from the list, and click the okay button. Note that you must repeat this step for the file types mentioned above. It shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to set Chrome as your default browser.
